Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives
Founded in 1994 by Professor Gunter Pauli at the United Nations University, Zero Emissions Research and Initiative (ZERI) is a global network of more than 3000 scientists working to find innovative solutions to the current and future issues of the world. For three decades, our partners have created more than three million jobs worldwide and generated more than three billion euros of investment in innovative environmental projects. ZERI has been one of the Top 10 Think Tanks with the Most Innovative Policy Ideas/Proposal in the world for many years, according to the Global Go To Think Tank Index Report of the University of Pennsylvania. In 2021, ZERI China was established by Shelley Tsang, aiming to leverage ZERI's global expertise and collaborate with local stakeholders to drive sustainable innovation and address pressing environmental challenges in China.

The ZERI Blue Economy
As part of ZERI China's ongoing efforts to promote sustainable development, we proudly introduce the ZERI Blue Economy Project. From 2010 to 2013, Professor Gunter Pauli unveiled 100 innovative case studies that celebrated scientists and entrepreneurs, with a focus on groundbreaking technology. These cases were widely disseminated through global media channels. Leveraging two decades of on-the-ground experience, the time is now ripe to provide in-depth and empowering insights through cutting-edge and creative recommendations.

The Economy of Happiness
ZERI China's Economy of Happiness project seeks to redefine the notion of success by prioritizing holistic well-being and sustainable development. This initiative challenges the conventional metrics of economic growth and instead focuses on the happiness and quality of life of individuals and communities. ZERI China collaborates with policymakers, economists, and social scientists to develop alternative indicators that consider social, environmental, and cultural factors.
