Founded by Shelley Tsang, the Gaudí Research Centre originated from the Gaudí Asia-Pacific Research Institute (2016) and was restructured in 2023. We position ourselves as interpreters of Gaudí's spirit and experimenters for his future legacy, dedicated to merging his philosophy of learning from nature with Eastern wisdom of harmony between heaven and humanity. ABOUT GRC PRIORITIES RESEARCH INITIATIVES HAPPENINGS Gaudí Research Centre Founded by Shelley Tsang, the Gaudí Research Centre (GRC) evolved from the Gaudí Asia-Pacific Research Institute (established 2016) and was restructured in 2023. Officially registered with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UN DESA) as an International Non-Governmental Organisation (ID #709191), the Centre defines itself as an interpreter of Gaudí’s spirit and a laboratory for his future legacy. Gaudí Research Centre operates on a forward-looking premise: that true innovation emerges where deep heritage meets fearless experimentation. By building a cross-disciplinary platform that brings together architects, engineers, digital artists, and master craftspeople, we translate Gaudí’s principles into sustainable, human-centred solutions. Our vision is to transcend traditional preservation, reframing Gaudí’s legacy not as an archive to be curated, but as a dynamic methodology for contemporary creation, ensuring that Gaudí’s legacy remains a living, evolving force, actively shaping a more resilient and beautiful world. Strategic Priorities Gaudí Research Centre's strategy is built upon the integrative vision of its founder, Shelley Tsang, in which architecture, innovation, and lifestyles are not separate domains but a synergistic whole. Our priorities are framed not as parallel tracks, but as a deeply interconnected triad guiding our mission to evolve Gaudí’s legacy for the 21st century. Architecture as a Living System We advance the principle that buildings should emulate nature's intelligence. By building a cross-disciplinary co-creation platform, we unite architects, engineers, digital artists and craftsmen to reinterpret Gaudí’s principles into sustainable, human-centred designs, ensuring Gaudí’s legacy remains a living, evolving force for the future of our planet. Officially registered with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) Integrated Civil Society Organisations System (ID #709191) as an International Non-Governmental Organisation (INGO). GRC Vision We are not curators of a static legacy, but pioneers of a living dialogue. As the Gaudí Research Centre, we challenge a fundamental question: What would Gaudí create today, armed with AI, bio-materials, and Eastern philosophy? Our vision is to be the world’s leading platform where Gaudí’s core principle — learning from nature — converges with the ancient Asian wisdom of harmony between heaven and humanity. We move beyond formal imitation to spiritual and methodological translation, fostering a new design language for the 21st century that is inherently sustainable, human-centred, and spiritually resonant. Our vision and mission are not preservation; it is evolution. Strategic Priorities Our methodology is built on the belief that the most profound innovations occur at the intersection of disciplines. The Centre functions as an open laboratory, actively dismantling the silos between traditional craftsmanship, computational design, material science, and environmental philosophy. We unite master artisans with AI researchers, structural engineers with poets, creating a fertile ground for what we term "Speculative Heritage." Here, Gaudí’s principles of organic form, light, and structure are not copied, but are used as a springboard to invent new solutions for contemporary challenges — from carbon-neutral building systems to biophilic urban spaces. Core Initiatives Theory without action is obsolete. Our initiatives are designed to materialise our vision into tangible prototypes, spaces, and dialogues. Key programmes include the Digital Gaudí Lab, which uses advanced scanning and modelling to analyse the structural genius of his works; the Future Craft Series, workshops that pair Catalan artisans with Chinese craftsmen to explore new applications for bamboo, ceramic, and other natural materials; and the Symposium for Speculative Heritage, an annual gathering of global thinkers to project Gaudí’s ethos 100 years into the future. Each initiative is a live experiment in making heritage a proactive force for innovation. Global Reach and Impact Officially registered with the United Nations Civil Society Database as an INGO, our impact radiates globally from our base in Asia. We are building a network of "Gaudí Future Fellows" — practitioners and scholars who apply this evolved design logic worldwide. Our tangible work, from co-hosting the 2nd Gaudí World Congress to participating in the revitalisation of ancient Yellow River villages, informs the development of greener, more soulful buildings from Spain to China. By demonstrating that the deepest respect for a master lies in daring to continue his journey, we ensure Gaudí’s legacy remains a living, evolving force shaping a more beautiful and resilient future. Her childhood in a historic Beijing courtyard — a vibrant cultural salon of the 1980s — instilled in her a profound reverence for the dialogue between space, memory, and identity. This early awakening inspired the founding of ICAPS in 2017, with a vision to foster meaningful encounters between Eastern wisdom and global heritage traditions. ICAPS believes that architectural treasures are not relics to be conserved in isolation, but active vessels of cultural continuity. We strive to create a world where the roof tiles of the Forbidden City can converse with the domes of Versailles, and where the harmonious principles of the Siheyuan courtyard inform the sustainable future of castles and palaces everywhere — guiding us to preserve not only stones, but the soul of human heritage. Strategic Priorities ICAPS embodies a forward-looking approach to heritage, one that interweaves preservation with purpose. Our strategy is built on three pillars: continuity, connection, and creation. We champion adaptive conservation, breathing new life into historic structures through cutting-edge technologies and non-invasive restoration techniques that honour their legacy while equipping them for contemporary use. We foster cross-cultural engagement, transforming palaces and castles into vibrant international forums where artists, scholars, and local communities can explore themes of identity, power, beauty, and belonging. Furthermore, we promote narrative innovation, supporting archival research, contemporary exhibitions, and immersive digital projects that reinterpret these sites as spaces of relevance for today’s global citizen. By commissioning new interpretations and digital access platforms, we ensure the stories of these places continue to evolve, resonate, and inspire. Core Initiatives ICAPS brings its ethos to life through a portfolio of carefully crafted programs that merge scholarship with sensibility. The Voice of Stone initiative employs immersive audio-visual technologies to reconstruct the sonic landscapes of historic sites, allowing visitors to experience coronation ceremonies, royal festivities, and daily life as they once resonated through great halls and courtyards. The Palace Dialogues is an annual summit that convenes thinkers, creators, and custodians from around the world to reflect on themes of governance, beauty, and cultural memory within the symbolic power of palace architecture. Meanwhile, Open Gates reimagines underused castles as hubs for artist residencies, cultural festivals, and community gatherings—ensuring they serve not only as monuments, but as meeting points. Each initiative is designed to deepen public connection and ensure these sites remain vital in the imagination of tomorrow. Global Reach and Impact From its foundational focus on Eurasian heritage, ICAPS has grown into a globally engaged organisation with partnerships spanning more than twenty countries. Our influence extends beyond physical conservation to include cultural advocacy, educational outreach, and digital access. We have collaborated with ICOMOS and UNESCO on safeguarding strategies for endangered sites, contributed to high-level symposia on heritage and soft power, and launched the Castle and Palace Worlds digital portal project — an open-access repository of manuscripts, blueprints, and oral histories related to castle and palace culture. Through these channels, ICAPS ensures that historic palaces and castles continue to function not as isolated relics, but as active, accessible, and inspiring touchstones of human creativity across time and borders. Our approach manifests through eight interconnected pillars: pioneering carbon-neutral urban clusters along BRI corridors; establishing geothermal energy partnerships across ASEAN nations; deploying AI-driven heritage conservation through strategic UNESCO alliances; issuing innovative sustainability bonds with a gender-lens focus; cultivating circular economy talent through our China-ASEAN youth platform; delivering AI-powered diagnostic solutions to underserved communities; advancing blockchain-enabled rare earth material recovery; and institutionalising women’s empowerment standards across our investment portfolio. These initiatives coalesce into a self-reinforcing ecosystem of transformational impact. Cultural Intelligence for Climate Action We weave together heritage preservation, circular economy principles, and ZERI Blue Economy strategies to advance the Belt and Road Initiative's vision of a global community with shared prosperity. Aligned with China's 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and 2060 carbon neutrality pledge, our initiatives transform historic urban corridors into climate-resilient economic hubs, repurpose industrial waste into sustainable construction materials for BRI infrastructure projects, and co-create nature-based solutions with coastal communities—all while fostering cross-border knowledge exchange and public-private partnerships to cultivate an ecosystem where cultural heritage catalyses low-carbon innovation. Through this holistic model, we demonstrate how economic progress and environmental stewardship can harmoniously coexist, creating shared value that transcends geographical boundaries while respecting local identities and traditions, building an ecologically civilised future for all. Institutionalising Inclusive Growth Building upon gender-responsive economic development methodologies, we advance institutional transformation through three interconnected pathways: Firstly, our preferential procurement framework now engages 42% women and diversity-led enterprises, deliberately channelling capital towards underrepresented entrepreneurs. Secondly, our network of intelligent craft hubs across ASEAN territories equips traditional artisans with AI-enhanced tools, fostering an innovative synthesis of cultural heritage and digital craftsmanship. Thirdly, having formally adopted the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs), we are actively contributing to China's emerging family-friendly workplace standards, embedding gender equity into corporate governance architectures. This multidimensional approach generates enduring momentum for women's economic empowerment through the concerted interplay of supply chain interventions, technological enablement and institutional innovation. Vendor Programme and Partnership Principles SIG Group Holding collaborate with exceptional partners worldwide to deliver innovative solutions for our clients and businesses. Our commitment rests on four principles: Innovation for transformative outcomes, Responsibility through ethical practices, Excellence beyond industry standards, and Collaboration that creates mutual value across our global partnerships. We prioritise partners whose expertise aligns with our evolving business needs and sustainability commitments. All suppliers must uphold our Supplier Code of Conduct as a non-negotiable framework for collaboration, mandating: legal and ethical business practices at every operational tier; implementation of data security protocols compliant with international standards; demonstrable environmental accountability in resource management and emissions control; uncompromising commitment to workplace safety and fair labour practices; and transparent subcontractor management ensuring supply chain integrity. SIG Group Holding and United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals SIG Group Holding integrates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into all aspects of its operations. Guided by a clear roadmap, its principled approach is to advance sustainable development by maintaining a considered balance among economic, social, and environmental priorities. Foolitzer is an international non-governmental organisation (INGO) founded in Hong Kong by Shelley Tsang in 2010. It is an action platform reclaiming the value of "foolishness." We catalyse naive yet bold ideas by providing a testing ground where they can surface, take root, and grow. Foolitzer believe true breakthroughs often begin where conventional wisdom ends. We are the laboratory for idealists, the ally for practitioners, and the home for those who dare to try the "impossible." It is an action platform reclaiming the value of "foolishness." We catalyse naive yet bold ideas by providing a testing ground where they can surface, take root, and grow. Foolitzer believe true breakthroughs often begin where conventional wisdom ends. We are the laboratory for idealists, the ally for practitioners, and the home for those who dare to try the "impossible." Officially registered with the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) Integrated Civil Society Organisations System (ID #709149) as an International Non-Governmental Organisation (INGO), and registered with the Hong Kong Police as a lawful Society (ID #0043689). Foolitzer Vision We are an action platform that provides a battlefield for 'naive ideas'. In a world that prizes 'cleverness', Foolitzer chooses to stand on the side of 'fools'. Our name carries a fusion of Eastern and Western wisdom: The English name 'Foolitzer' is a blend of 'Foolish' and '-izer', meaning 'a catalyst for the spirit of the fool'. We focus on activating and empowering, turning seemingly impractical passion into tangible action. Here, we pay homage to the wisdom of 'feigned ignorance as a sign of great wisdom', and embrace the state of 'Stay hungry, stay foolish.' We do not believe in 'impossible', only in 'not tried yet'. Foolitzer does one thing only: To make space for adventurous ideas to emerge, and for courageous actions to take root. Strategic Priorities Foolitzer transforms ordinary courage into tangible, sustainable development action through four core pillars. In education, our innovative models like "Failure Assignments" break standardised answers, directly contributing to quality education (SDG 4) by cultivating resilient thinking to address complex challenges like the climate crisis. We support "overly-advanced" green technologies and social enterprises to foster industry innovation (SDG 9) and a green economy (SDG 8). By activating the wisdom of marginalised groups, we strengthen community co-creation, working to reduce inequality (SDG 10) and build sustainable cities (SDG 11). Simultaneously, through lifestyle initiatives like repair cafés, we promote responsible consumption and production (SDG 12). These four interconnected pillars form an action ecosystem, employing our distinctive "foolish wisdom" to cultivate a more inclusive and resilient sustainable development path. Core Initiatives Foolitzer's eight initiatives form a social ecology experiment dedicated to cultivating the 'impractical'. Rather than isolated projects, they function as an integrated system of 'alchemy for change'. This ecosystem begins with detoxifying language via The Fool's Dictionary, whilst the Fool's Seed Fund nourishes nascent ideas. The Cross-disciplinary Fool's Lab forces creative collisions, and Community Fool Ambassadors ignite action locally. We reframe failure through the Failures' Carnival, listen to the urban subconscious via the Listening Wall, and embody principles through the One-Month Foollifestyle experiment and the Waste Re-creation Workshop. This deliberate design allows the 'spirit of the fool' to circulate and regenerate within society's fabric, gradually shifting the courage to be different and to fail from a marginal choice to a new cultural sensibility. Global Reach and Impact Foolitzer's fifteen-year journey is a global practice of "foolish wisdom." We engage in international dialogues with a unique "foolish methodology"— sharing the value of failure at sustainability forums, exploring the creative potential of cross-disciplinary misunderstandings at climate conferences. Our global network is a symbiotic ecosystem of locally-grown "foolish practitioners." Emanating from Hong Kong's community labs, this "foolish philosophy" has subtly influenced over twenty countries and regions. By reshaping language systems, redefining failure, and redrawing collaboration boundaries, we cultivate new cultural species beyond mainstream cognition. Foolitzer's footprint lies not in project scale, but in the living space created for underestimated "naive forces.“ Foolitzer is registered with the Hong Kong Police as a lawful Society (ID #0043689) and officially listed with the United Nations Integrated Civil Society Organisations System as an International Non-Governmental Organisation (ID #709149). Foolitzer benefits from the foundational support of SIG Group Holding and strategically partners with a consortium of philanthropies and institutional funders who share our long-term vision. As an organisation, Foolitzer maintains strict neutrality on political and policy matters, ensuring an inclusive and open platform for all cultural voices. Copyright © 2010-2026. Foolitzer.
