Bringing policy, industry and
scholarship into long-term decisions

SIG Research brings together a network of research institutes and serves as SIG Group Holding's centre for knowledge and method. Internally, its work spans four areas: public policy and governance; business and capital; the humanities and culture; and technology and innovation. This research brings depth and perspective to long-term decisions. Externally, SIG Group Holding has founded and works with an international network that includes Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives (China), the Gaudí Research Centre, the International Castles and Palaces Society and the Southeast Asia Cultural Hub. Its work organises knowledge, combines methods and draws insight from different disciplines. Through collaboration with China's Ministry of Education, the research network extends to nearly 400 leading universities worldwide. SIG Research turns careful analysis into informed judgement, giving each long-term decision a stronger intellectual foundation.
  • Institutions often shape outcomes long before their effects become visible.

Research into public policy and governance examines how institutions shape everyday realities. SIG studies policy mechanisms, governance structures and international frameworks: how rules are made, how they allocate resources and responsibilities, and how they influence incentives and behaviour. Understanding the logic behind these systems supports sound long-term decisions, cross-sector collaboration and resource allocation.

  • Sound judgement begins with a method that can withstand scrutiny.

The value of business and capital research lies in turning intuition into method. SIG studies investment logic, capital structures, operational efficiency and routes to commercialisation, examining what makes a business viable and how capital allocation balances returns and risk across market cycles. A reusable analytical framework makes judgement less susceptible to shifts in sentiment and provides a testable, durable basis for decision-making.

  • Every civilisation has its own way of understanding the world.

Humanities and cultural research examines how a civilisation understands and expresses itself, and how it engages with the wider world. SIG studies history, culture, language and discourse to understand how values emerge, ideas travel, memories accumulate and identities endure. This depth of cultural understanding gives cross-cultural exchange firmer foundations and sustains dialogue over time.

  • Sound decisions about the future begin with an accurate reading of emerging technologies.

Technology and innovation research identifies the technologies capable of reshaping industries. SIG examines advances in science, engineering and technology, together with research and development methods, to assess their direction, maturity and conditions for adoption. The work considers their implications for energy, industry and investment, including the right time to act or wait. A clear view of these trends supports sound foresight and timely preparation.

  • Genuine insight emerges where different disciplines meet.

Think tank networks and collaboration bring dispersed knowledge into productive exchange. SIG connects specialists, think tanks and interdisciplinary researchers through lasting working relationships, considering the depth of expertise, common ground between subjects, differences in method and a workable pace of collaboration. As perspectives from different fields test and complement one another, fragmented information develops into coherent insight, and the network can continue to produce analysis that informs decisions.

  • Circular systems open new possibilities for development.

Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives offer a different approach to development. SIG considers zero emissions, the blue economy and sustainable transition within a single framework, examining how resources can circulate, how production and consumption can be reorganised, and how industries can be redesigned. Redefining waste can turn constraints into opportunities. Applied in practice, this approach makes sustainable development an organised, testable course of action.

  • Architecture preserves both history and the order of a civilisation.

The International Castles and Palaces Society studies architecture, power, everyday life and memory within their shared historical context. SIG focuses on the conservation and study of castles, palaces and cultural heritage, alongside international academic collaboration. Its work traces their histories and considers conservation techniques, public education and contemporary interpretation. Careful research and interpretation provide a stronger basis for international dialogue and help preserve cultural continuity.

  • A master's work rewards close study over time.

The Gaudí Research Centre interprets Gaudí's ideas and explores how his legacy can develop in the future. Bringing together architecture, engineering, digital art and craft, it applies his principles to sustainable, human-centred work today. Gaudí's legacy is treated as an evolving method rather than a static archive, offering adaptable ideas and inspiration for contemporary work shaped by resilience and beauty.

  • Deeper cultural understanding provides a firmer basis for cooperation.

The Southeast Asia Cultural Hub deepens regional understanding by linking cultural study with informed cooperation. SIG focuses on Southeast Asian cultures, regional exchange and multilateral collaboration, considering both the region's diverse histories and the new connections taking shape today. A genuine understanding of culture creates trust and provides a long-term foundation for stronger relationships, multilateral dialogue and shared regional understanding.
