Shelley Man Hoi Tsang is an entrepreneur, change-maker, and art collector. Shelley Tsang is the 74th generation of the Zeng Clan. Her ancestor Zengzi is one of the Four Sages of Confucianism in China. Shelley was born in Hong Kong. She was living in her family's Beijing courtyard in the south of Zhongnanhai since she was a child. Her family was actively engaged in global business, government, and military fields. In recognition of her distinguished contributions to the development of humanities and global understanding, Shelley is the Damehood Candidate of the Royal and Noble Brotherhood of King Saint Ferdinand. She will be the first Asian who receives this honour in history.
As the Founder and Chairman of SIG Group Holding, Shelley has been actively integrating family business, exploring new business opportunities, and developing new markets. Through the collaboration with governments, enterprises, and academic institutions, SIG Group Holding developed its global business in eight aspects, including Cities, Investments, Energy, Innovations, Lifestyles, Trading, Research, and Agriculture. Over the years, Shelley has been continually looking for innovative, effective, and sustainable ways of long-term development. In 2016, Shelley founded Gaudi Asia-Pacific Research Institute to study and share Antoni Gaudi's insights and transform the research results into practical projects dedicated to improving human life. Shelley has co-organised the Gaudi World Congress in Shanghai in 2016, participated in the 120,000 square kilometres' Yellow River Ancient Villages Revitalising Projects in Shandong in 2017, and built China's first Gaudi Park on the world's most extensive 80km urban greenway in Chengdu in 2018. In 2020, Shelley started to collaborate with Zero Emissions Research and Initiatives (ZERI), the world's top 10 think tank, to develop Professor Gunter Pauli's The Blue Economy projects in China, inspired by the Founder of the Club of Rome, Dr. Aurelio Peccei.
Shelley has been actively promoting high-level international exchanges on the national level. She organised seminars in Sciences Po to celebrate Sino France 50, helped with international exhibitions in the National Museum of China, sponsored the Tsinghua University seminars of the former World Bank Group CFO's wife - art historian Vanessa Badré, and participated in the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation. Shelley founded the Spain China Cooperation Initiatives during the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Kingdom of Spain in 2018. She launched the Initiatives in the Beijing Spanish Embassy with Ambassador Alberto Carnero to enhance the two countries' cultural and economic interactions.
Shelley was a representative of Chinese companies to join the 2018 UN Global Compact Leaders Summit and UN Private Sector Forum in the United Nations Headquarters in New York convened by Secretary-General António Guterres. These events provided an important opportunity to join key Heads of State and UN Principals at the table for high-level discussions on peace. In 2020, Shelley demonstrated her support for the United Nations and inclusive multilateralism by signing the Statement from Business Leaders for Renewed Global Cooperation. This powerful Statement, including the full list of CEO supporters from more than 100 countries, was presented to the United Nations Secretary-General on the sidelines of the High-level meeting of the General Assembly to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the United Nations.
Shelley has been contributing to various charity works as well as holding positions in different Non-Profit Organisations. Shelley is the Goodwill Ambassador of the Art and Culture Without Borders Foundation, registered with the United Nations, from 2019-2021. She works with other Goodwill Ambassadors, including HIH Princess Saba Kebede of Ethiopia, HRH Princess Ana Maria Al-Senussi of Libya, HRH Principe Palden Namgyal of Sikkim, HH Princess Amal Alayamini Al Sabah of Syria-Kuwait, and HH Princess Mina Lhegari of Pakistan, to promote art and cultural events for charity. The Foundation organised various events such as the SOS Beirut Charity Art Auction and the Global Painting and Photography Competition for Children and Adolescents with great success.
Shelley has a great passion for the arts, and she always reserves a space for the arts on her life journey. She founded SIGNATURE Fine Arts at the age of 26 and opened her first art gallery on West Chang'an Avenue in Beijing. In the same year, her gallery became a recommended gallery of the world-renown artron.com. She was invited to participate in the discussion of setting regulations for the management of the Chinese art markets by the China Ministry of Culture. In 2018, Shelley co-founded the first Gaudi Digital Museum in the world with the giant internet company Baidu. The Gaudi Digital Museum is the largest ever promotion of a Catholic church in China since 1949 and notified The Holiness Pope Francis in the Vatican. In 2019, Shelley launched the first art and science artificial intelligence project, Walking with Masters, with Baidu AI Brain, and presented at the Baidu World Conference. The project promotion film has reached more than 13,000,000 views in the first 24 hours and over 20,000 discussions online. As an art collector, Shelley has been collecting Chinese antiques and intangible cultural heritage objects, as well as Chinese and Western modern and contemporary art for decades. In 2020, she was invited to exhibit 100 pieces of her Chinese antique and intangible cultural heritage collections in the famous UNESCO World Heritage Casa Batlló in Barcelona. The exhibition reached an enormous success with press coverage of over 800,000,000 people worldwide.
In terms of artistic creation, at the age of 19, Shelley won the silver medal in the art competition of Xu Beihong Art School of Renmin University in Beijing. In the same year, Shelley was invited to join the prestigious one-century-old Hong Kong Art Club. At the age of 20, Shelley received a scholarship from the University of Hong Kong to study art and culture in Italy. At the age of 25, she was honoured as an Emerging Artist from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Shelley had been publishing her photography works on the National Geographic website since 2009. In 2020, she published three photography portfolios featuring Mount Wutai, Barcelona, and Seville. Shelley's artworks had been exhibited in the Hong Kong City Hall, Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Seoul Guanghuamen Art Museum, and galleries around the world that many prominent private collectors and institutions have collected her arts. Shelley has been interviewed by many media, such as CCTV News, Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, Global Times, Cosmopolitan Magazine, Conde Nast AD Magazine, and Fortune Character Magazine.
Shelley was admitted as a Mensa International High IQ Club member since 17 years old. Shelley holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art History from the University of Hong Kong. With her love for Earth Science and Gemmology, Shelley became an Applied Jewellery Professional (AJP) at the Gemological Institute of America. To enhance her business knowledge, Shelley studied Business Analytics, Economics for Managers, and Financial Accounting at Harvard Business School. As a lifelong learner, Shelley has been joining various multi-disciplinary education programs, including courses from the University of Oxford, World Bank Group, and Harvard Medical School.
Shelley Tsang is always full of passions and curiosity to explore and experience everything in life. Shelley is an independent world traveller. At the age of 22, she completed her one-year Grand Tour across Eurasia. Her cultural expedition journey started from the United Kingdoms to all the European countries, and then through Russia Siberia all the way to China. Moreover, Shelley is a big fan of mountain hiking and trekking, she has been to the peak of Mount Wutai, Mount Hua, the Qinling Mountains, and the North China Plateau. She is currently planning for her new journey to the Americas.
